Porsche 918 Spyder Plug-in Hybrid

Supercar manufacturers are developing sharper looking automobiles with more horsepower, more torque, and higher top speeds. Not only are these car makers improving their performance statistics, but they are also improving their fuel efficiency. In the next 5 years, we will begin to see more and more releases of green exotic cars. Tesla Motors was one of the first exotic car makers to hit this high-performance green scene with their Tesla Roadster.

German sports car maker, Porsche, also did not waste any time entering the exotic green scene. In March 2010, Porsche debuted their 918 Spyder Hybrid plug-in supercar at the Geneva Auto Show. Supposedly, this new high-performance Porsche supercar produces over 700 horsepower with a top speed of more than 200 mph while achieving a 0 to 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds! During normal driving conditions, this Porsche's fuel efficiency rates around 78 mpg.

If these statistics are correct, this hybrid Porsche 918 will supersede the performance of any Turbo gasolene powered Porsche Carrera created in the past. It will be very interesting when the actual statistics hit the streets. Until then, enjoy the Porsche videos that were posted below.
